An article this month in US News and World Reports details a trend in luxury home purchases; More women making investments in estate-style housing. The article, by staff reporter Meg Handley, identifies the trend emerging from several factors.

“Many women are also poised to benefit from the largest transference of wealth in history as retirement and inheritances from parents and spouses loom.”

However, the article identifies another, equally affluent group of women are also taking advantage of the rebounding marketplace in real estate; self-made women entrepreneurs and “C” level executives.

Handley explores realtors impressions of this growing demographic in home-buying, by identifying differences between single-women looking for homes, as compared to couples or men looking in the same marketplace. While some factors remain the same, such as the search for value for investment, the author points to a difference in women’s buying patterns by focusing on quality of interiors and building materials used inside the home, as opposed to men or couples who tend to focus more on the home’s floor plan and exterior quality, or what’s referred to as ‘curb appeal’.

Luxury Home Marketing Group Announce Board Election Results, Focus for 2013

Members of the Raleigh-based Luxury Home Marketing Group have elected new board leadership for 2013. Linda Craft of Linda Craft & Team, REALTORS® assumes the Presidency, while Jill Rekuc of Olde Raleigh Real Estate becomes Vice-President. Former board President Kimberly Conroy of Coldwell Banker HPW is the new Secretary, while Shawn Britt of Realty World-Triangle Living remains as Treasurer. The immediate Past-President is Kathy Beacham of Coldwell Banker HPW.
